Various polls and surveys among students have repeatedly revealed that essay writing is considered the toughest assignment among those the students have to handle during their years in the academe.

The expression of one’s thoughts in writing is actually a challenge in itself: we learn to speak first but writing is a skill acquired that demands certain conscious efforts to master it.

If a child does not become interested in writing during elementary days, probably the child will also dislike wincing at essays, book reports and term papers. Therefore, the problem with essays starts when children have not considered essay writing as an integral part of the studies.

Many people also lack confidence when asked to express their thoughts on a piece of paper. Apart from the inability to document one’s own ideas in a well-structured manner, students also have deficiency in grammar knowledge, which influences the orthography and punctuation of the written works.

Hence, essay writing is not merely “boring” for students. The biggest problem is that those who have to write essays lack the confidence necessary to produce a sound piece of writing. After repeated failures some students even develop a psychological complex and simply give up in writing a good essay.

As essay writing serves to be the toughest challenge for a lot of students, overcoming such task only proves that one is mentally, psychologically and physically up to the challenge of the real world – not just to the requirements of the academe.
